The mission of TiLLi Kids is to maximize the overall quality of life for children diagnosed with a terminal illness or life limiting illness (TiLLi) and their families. The TiLLi Kids team consists of specially trained pediatric clinicians. TiLLi Kids is the only program in South Florida focused on alleviating the pain and suffering of children with a terminal/life limiting illness. HospiceCare of Southeast Florida, Inc.’s TiLLi Kids is the only hospice initiative in South Florida focusing on the unique clinical and psychosocial needs of children who have been diagnosed with a terminal or life limiting illness and the needs of their families. In response to the lack of comprehensive services available to children with a terminal or life limiting illness, HospiceCare of Southeast Florida, Inc. developed TiLLi Kids in 2008 to expand and enhance services for this underserved population. Our experience caring for pediatric patients has heightened our awareness of the unique needs and issues pediatric patients and their families face that differ from our adult patients and their families. We are proud to partner with Jackson Health System’s Holtz Children’s Hospital, Baptist Children’s Hospital, Miami Children’s Hospital, Children’s Medical Services Network and many more. TiLLi Kids (tĭl'ē) stands for terminally ill life limiting illness. TiLLi Kids was named thusly to maintain clinical relevance, while allowing for wider acceptance among the medical and lay communities. The term “hospice” and the misconceptions associated with pediatric hospice deter many parents from exploring the benefits of the service for their child. TiLLi Kids offers an array of service and options for the family from clinical to psychosocial support, thereby opening the dialogue wherein the child’s pediatrician, the family, and the TiLLi Kids nurse determine the best service for the child. The goal is for “TiLLi Kids” to become a recognized terminology nationally among pediatric health care providers and assist in increasing access to the needed service.
Affiliate Group: TiLLi Kids is privileged to have the support from the TiLLi Advocacy Group (TAG)! TAG is an auxiliary group of volunteers committed to making a difference in the lives of children with a terminal or life limiting illness. TAG develops service and network driven initiatives to promote community awareness, and develops financial resources to support TILLI Kids services. Various individual and corporate sponsorship membership levels are available.
Annual Giving: Gifts to the TiLLi Kids annual giving program provide incredible opportunities for TiLLi Kids to meet the ever growing needs of children in our community with a terminal or life limiting illness. These unrestricted funds help to offset the TiLLi Kids operating cost and meet unanticipated needs of our patients and families.
