VOLUNTEERS OVERVIEW

Volunteer opportunities at HospiceCare are many and varied. The majority of volunteers are patient care volunteers, who provide an invaluable service to the families of the terminally ill and to those patients who have no families. Volunteers visit patients who live at home, in facilities, in hospital or at our onsite facility called the “Villa”. They offer respite for caregivers and emotional support to the patients and their loves ones. Some of the activities they offer include:
Reading
Playing board games
Pet Therapy (must be licensed)
Listening
Massage Therapy (must be licensed)
Visiting patients is not for everyone; some volunteers want to be a part of the volunteer family but chose to work in the office. HospiceCare always appreciates an extra pair of hands. Volunteers have the opportunity to help staff in a variety of administration duties, such as:
Filing
Making phone calls
Data Entry
Mailing
Helping with volunteer training, etc.
Volunteers who do not have patient contact are not required to attend the volunteer training. Instead, they will receive on the job training.
