PML-N government still prioritizes health and education sectors: Governor


Senator Saud Majeed, former provincial ministers Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan and Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman on Friday called Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman at the governor’s house here and discussed development in South Punjab and of education in the province. Governor said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has always prioritized health and education sectors, adding funds for higher education have been increased despite constraints of the 2022-23 federal budget.

He said the PML-N government was paying special attention to higher education institutions, while funds for higher education had tripled during his previous term. He said the PML-N has always taken practical steps for the development of South Punjab, adding that universities and hospitals have been established in the remote areas to provide health and education facilities to the people.

He said every member of society should play their part in the development of the country instead of spreading frustration among people.

Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said planning was needed to control smog and environmental pollution, adding that work was underway on a plan to form a consortium in universities regarding the environment.

He said he had conveyed instructions for maintaining a five-year calendar in universities, adding that the convocation should not be delayed in educational institutions. He called on teachers to focus on producing good professionals as well as good human beings.

Senator Saud Majeed expressed hope that the Governor of Punjab would play his part for the welfare of the people of South Punjab while MPA Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan praised the services of Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman as Minister Federal Department of Education in the past.
