A humanitarian organization, Professionals for Humanity (PROFOH) is to partner with the Borno State government to address the challenges of health service delivery and environmental issues affecting Borno.
This is the result of a meeting held on Tuesday between PROFOH officials and Governor Babagana Umara Zulum at the Borno State Liaison Office in Abuja.
PROFOH was established in 1998 to address issues related to healthcare, education, environment, and drinking water operations in the United States, Germany, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa .
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Zulum said that Borno has been facing a crisis for more than ten years which has severely affected the environment and infrastructure in the housing, health and education sectors, among others.
Zulum also noted that while the state does well in waste management with the Ministry of Environment and the Borno Plastic Company, it is still open to harnessing PROFOH’s expertise.
The Executive Director of PROFOH, Mr. Gbemuotor Kama, led a delegation comprising Mr. Kamasoude Wode – Chairman, Dr. Alexander Rochlitz – Board Member, Engr Ned Jessup, Engr Mathias Gerhardy – Board Member, Mr. Sanusi Mahmud.
On the Borno government side at the meeting was Professor Isa Hussaini Marte, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Amb. Adamu Abbas, Special Advisor, External Relations and Liaison Affairs, Engr Ibrahim BK, SSA Technical.
